The thing is, I'm known for giving names to my mocs that seem to be unneccesarily long and needlessy complicated. Since I've had quite some complaints and questions about my reasoning for naming a mechanical-themed moc in such a fashion.
In order to explain all of this, We need to get into a very important part of my personal universe; the caste system. In this universe of mine, Spherus Magna has since long ben reformed and the great Beings have returned, taking up the task of governing all the species and beings on the newly re-united planet. To make order for things, the following order of importance has ben put in place by the quickly corrupted government:
Omega Caste: The Royal Great Beings or Great Beings with one of the following functions; politicians, governors, bankers, heads of religion, and the military elite.
First Caste: Great Beings in general or with the function of: scholars, scientists, priests and preachers. Toa also fall into this caste.
Second Caste: Any other species coming from the Mata-Nui robot that is fully sentient and one person, with the exception of Zyglak. These beings are ussually lower-ranked soldiers, merchants, common citizens and villagers and the general everyday populace.
Third Caste: Reserved for slaves, prisoners, Agori/Glatorian and Zyglak. Due to the Agori and Glatorian falling into this caste, this one also houses the biggest amount of people.
Zero Caste/Unrighty: Everything that falls out of the four previous castes. Bohrok, Vahki, Visorak and other semi-sentient beings aswell as mutants, anyone deemed as a criminal and eventual beings from other planets.
With each caste come different rights, and while there are quite some possibilities to ascend to a higher caste, time has learned that this actually rarely happens to anyone. Corrupted clerks and lackeys, among alot of other problems, ussually keep most beings from ascending. Falling into a lower cae, however, is in many cases rather easy.
Every being however, does carry the right to identify himself/herself with his caste, for example; a Third.
With each caste, the rigt to bear names and titles also is prevalent. A Zero has no right on an officially registered name, while a Third has the right to bear one given name.
This ranking goes like this:
Omega: Carries the right of being referred to as an "Omega". When spoken to, they are to be called "Your Prominence"or "Your Excellency in a case of royality. The King can be soly referred to as "Your Majesty". An Omega can carry as many names and titles as he wishes.
First: Carries the right ot be referred to as a "First". When speaking to a Great Being of any function, "My Lord" suffices. A Toa is always adressed with "Toa". A First can carry up to three actual names and two surnames, in addition to any given titles.
Second: Carries the right of being referred to as a "Second". These beings are spoken to with their species' name, for example "Skakdi, Vortixx, Matoran" ETC. A Second can carry up to two actual names and one surname, in addition to any given titles.
Third: Carries the right of being referred to as "Third". Always adressed by this, regardless of species or profesison.
Zero: Simply put, always a Zero. Escape from this class is impossible.
Bear in mind though, that these extensive rules are just suited for the names and titles.
It becomes, however, much more complicated with designations. Designations exist, for example, in order to inform others about a rank, a kind of armory or an assigned unit for militay troops. The designation is added before the surname, but also after the third, second or first name. All first names and Titles are written with lines between them, with an eventual surname coming in behind.
A few examples:
A Glatorian infantrist
A Skakdi Merchant: Skakdi-Therus-Rezal Makan.
A Great Being warrior: Lord-Igudono-Samakan Rhadamantis.
A Great Being wearing a special kind of armor, made out of the mysterious material known as Batmair:
Tabaris-Tenebris-Batmairion CarpeNocte.
So, I guess it's time to wrap this all up! this journal has gotten to the point where it has become rather lengthy, and I congratulate you if you managed to get this far.
All of this was something I had been thinking about for quite a while now, but thanks to a rather wonderful invention by the wonderful, amazing and fantastic
Thank you for reading this far. I hope it solves your troubles with my way of naming. I like doing my things complicated, I'm blissfully aware of that...
Cheerio!!
